Lois Baron studied at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture from 1966 through 1969 - primarily with Alex Katz. Other teachers were Milton Resnick, Philip Guston, Leland Bell, Louis Finkelstein and others.
Born in Chicago, Baron lived most of her life in New York City with a 3-1/2 year stint in Bangkok Thailand. She exhibited her work in both cities. After returning to New York in 1985 she worked in Non-profit Management to better support herself after divorce. She simultaneously earned a Master’s Degree at Milano, The New School in Non-profit Management.
Upon her return to Chicago, she resumed her work of translating observed visual experience to canvas.
